The University of Haifa was established in 1963 under the joint auspices of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Haifa Municipality, and was accredited as a separate institution in 1972.

The University of Haifa is a pluralistic institution: students from cities and development towns, kibbutzim and moshavim, new immigrants, Jews, Arabs, and Druzes, IDF officers and security personnel—all learn in an atmosphere of coexistence, tolerance, and mutual respect.  The University values the link between academic excellence and social responsibility and service to the community is one of its important goals.

The International School at the University of Haifa sponsors many programs for learning Hebrew and other relevant courses and welcomes olim as well as overseas students to its classes for a summer, a semester or a year program. link (pdf File) - The International School of the University of Haifa.
